November began with a visit from our ANZ (Australia/New Zealand) field leader, Rev. Satish Manmothe. The Broome Church of the Nazarene Leadership team gathered on Saturday the 1st for a time of strategy and planning.

With temperatures reaching the high 80’s f (30+ c) and heavy humidity by 9am, meeting inside with aircon or late afternoon at the park or on the beach is necessary. Finding the right rhythm of when to meet for preaching, Bible study, fellowship dinners and kids club were reviewed and planned for.
Pray for Mathew Taylor, pastor in training, as he balances life being a father of two active and creative daughters (Mariah and Abigail), husband to Siobhan, student taking 1 to 2 classes per term for Ordination and toward his Bachelors Degree, plus having full-time work with an agency doing Suicide Prevention training.

2 YEARS ago, many of you, along with us, started dreaming of a way to come alongside missionary Jongil Kim and reach places in the Kimberleys in NW Australia where many Aboriginal people live and many communities do not have full-time pastors to live and serve on a daily basis.
THANK YOU to the many who have prayed for us often and also to those who have given to support this important work. We are able to serve here in Australia because of you! and for that we are so very Thankful.

“At MNU, we must never forget that we are guided by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit empowers our teaching. The Spirit guides our strategic decisions. The Spirit transforms our students. The Spirit unites our diverse community.
We are people who depend on God’s power, not our own wisdom. We are people who seek God’s direction, not merely the latest trends. We are a university that believes the Holy Spirit is active and present in our classrooms, our residence halls, our athletic fields, and our board rooms.
Academic excellence matters deeply to us. But academic excellence without the Spirit’s presence is merely human achievement. We seek excellence that is Spirit empowered and Kingdom directed.” —Dr. Jon D. North, MNU President
It was 12:00 a.m. midnight in Broome (Western Australia time, Nov. 19th and 10:00 a.m. CST, Nov. 18th), when Rob’s brother, Jon, was inaugurated as Mid-America Nazarene University’s sixth president (while also being the first alumni to serve this position). We have Star-Link in Australia, which allows us, on most occasions, to connect to the internet and view web content and do ZOOM calls. When traveling in remote places this is our best option for web connection. While it did not work in our travel schedule to be back in the US for this event, we were so thankful to be able to witness this wonderful occasion in real time. We felt underdressed for the auspicious event, however, as we were in our PJ’s.

GREAT BOOK – For those of you in our age bracket, you can identify the great need for some type of manual to know how to navigate this new relationship that forms as your children become adults. Cindy and I listen to books as we travel these long journeys circumnavigating the vast continent of Australia. We don’t often recommend books, to all, but this one we recommend HIGHLY.
